              POSIX System Test Suites -- Technical Data Sheet

              Executive Summary

              The Open Group includes in its range of test suites a number of conformance tests for the IEEE POSIX standards. Suppliers are also able to demonstrate their conformance visibly through the recently established POSIX®: Certified by IEEE and The Open Group certification program.

              The Open Group is well established as the premier open systems test supplier and certification authority. As a supplier independent and product neutral organization, The Open Group is the logical choice in developing standards-based test suites and certification programs.


              Introduction

              The Open Group has a portfolio of test suites that cover parts of IEEE Std 1003.1 and IEEE Std 1003.13 standards. These are available to license in a number of packages, tailored to meet your individual testing needs.

              Use of test suites is essential for proper development and maintenance of standards-based products, ensuring conformance of supplier products to industry-standard APIs, application portability and interoperability. In-depth testing with The Open Group test suites identifies defects at the earliest possible point in the development and test cycle minimizing costly defects found in the field.

               

              Test Suites for IEEE POSIX

               

              The Test Suites include:

              • VSX-PCTS2016 - A conformance test suite for IEEE Std 1003.1-2016 (and 2018) system interfaces (mandatory parts only).
              • VSC-PCTS2016 - A conformance test suite for IEEE Std 1003.1-2016 (and 2018) shell and utilities (mandatory parts only)
              • VSX-PCTS2003 - A conformance test suite for IEEE Std 1003.1-2003 system interfaces (mandatory parts only).
              • VSC-PCTS2003 - A conformance test suite for IEEE Std 1003.1-2003 shell and utilities (mandatory parts only)
              • VSX-PCTS1990 - A conformance test suite for IEEE Std 1003.1-1990 system interfaces .
              • VSPSE54:1998 - A conformance test suite for IEEE Std 1003.13-1998 Profile PSE54 (Multipurpose Realtime).
              • VSPSE52:1998 - A conformance test suite for IEEE Std 1003.13-1998 Profile PSE52 (Embedded Realtime).
              • VSPSE52:2003 - A conformance test suite for IEEE Std 1003.13-2003 Profile PSE52
              • VSPSE54:2003 - A conformance test suite for IEEE Std 1003.13-2003 Profile PSE54

              These test suites have been developed as test packages under the Test Environment Toolkit and for VSX-PCTS the VSXgen test framework, allowing them to be run stand-alone, or combined with other relevant VSXgen test packages.

              In addition The Open Group has developed tests for the POSIX Realtime standards and the Embedded POSIX Profile standards.
